Last Call Campbell Moms! Shop and Snack: Southern Sisters Style

Grab a friend or two & join fellow Campbell Cougar moms for a private shopping extravaganza on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Southern Sisters Designs in Downtown Rosenberg. With door prizes every 30 minutes, DJ spun tunes, massages by Nuance Salon and Day Spa, and food by assorted local restaurants. This is going to be fabulous!

*Limited to 60 women. First come, first serve!

Make checks payable to Campbell PTA and put in the PTA lockbox in the school’s office.

It is time once again to recruit volunteers to serve on the PTA Board. Serving on the PTA Board is a rewarding experience. Not only is it a chance to help enrich your child’s educational experience, but it is also a way to meet and work with other Campbell parents.

There are 14 positions on the PTA Board comprised of 6 officers and 8 chairmen. The specific titles are as follows:
Officers: President, Vice President of Fundraising, Vice President of Student Services, Treasurer, Secretary and Parliamentarian.
Chairmen: Membership Chairman, Online/Publicity Chairman, Volunteer Coordinator, Yearbook Chairman, Programs/5th Grade Coordinator, Room Parent Coordinator, Teacher Appreciation Chairman, and Spring Fundraiser Coordinator.

If you are interested in serving in any of these board positions, you can submit your name to the Nominating Committee at info@campbellpta.org. Please put “PTA Board” in the subject line. The Nominating Committee will submit their recommendation for Board Officers to the PTA membership at the annual meeting in April.

Giving Tree

Campbell PTA is responding to the call for help from Helping Hands. Their shelves are in need of several items ranging from toiletries to socks and underwear.If you would like ideas, there will be tags with needed items you may come and get off of the tree. We will start collecting items after Thanksgiving through December 17th. Please bring new, unwrapped items and place them under the tree in the foyer at Campbell. Save the Date for Campbell Elementary’s 4th Annual Memorial Hermann Bunny Hop
Campbell Elementary will be hosting the 4th annual Memorial Hermann Bunny Hop Saturday, February 23, 2013, rain or shine.

The event, hosted by Bess Campbell Elementary in the Greatwood subdivision, encourages fun and fitness for the entire family, with a certified, chip-timed 5k, a Toddler Dash, and a 1-mile Family Run/Walk. This year’s 5k has been expanded to nine age groups: 5-8, 9-11, 12-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.

There will also be a silent auction, a live auction, a raffle presented by Team Sansone – RE/MAX Fine Properties, a post-race party with a health and fitness fair, an awards presentation, and new for 2013, a carnival.

“The whole community gets excited for this annual event, and the 2013 Bunny Hop promises to be the most fun yet, with the addition of a carnival and with more age groups in the 5k so more runners can show their stuff,” says Michelle Koerth, Principal of Campbell Elementary. “It’s such a pleasure to bring people together for a day of fitness and friendly competition, and we’re delighted to host it at Campbell because we’re so proud of our school. We hope everyone will get inspired to run, walk, or just visit the health fair to see what our community has to offer.”

Proceeds from the Memorial Hermann Bunny Hop will directly benefit Campbell Elementary. Past years’ Fun Run funds have helped supply classroom computers and Promethean boards, science lab upgrades, resurfacing of the track, grants to the art, music and physical education departments, and a shade structure for the playground.

WORK BEGINS ON THE 3RD ANNUAL BUNNY HOP FUN RUN

Campbell Elementary announced that the date of the 4th Annual Memorial Hermann Bunny Hop has been set for Saturday, February 23rd, 2013. The event will be held rain or shine.

The event, hosted by Bess Campbell Elementary in the Greatwood subdivision, encourages fun and fitness for the entire family, with a certified 5k walk or run, a Toddler Dash, and a 1-mile Family Run/Walk. Just like last year’s successful day of events, there will be a silent auction, raffle, and a post-race party with a health and fitness fair. Proceeds from the Memorial Hermann Bunny Hop directly benefit Campbell Elementary. The 3rd annual Fun Run in 2012, not only allowed us to fund the PTA budget, which supports such items as school field trips, teacher training, Weekly Readers, and student programs, we were able to donate an additional $45,000 to Campbell Elementary!
With these funds, we were able to have the school’s track re-surfaced, as well as to buy 8 Promethean boards for 4th and 5th grade classrooms, 2 new computers, easels for K-2nd grade, personal white boards with markers and erasers for students in 2nd-5th grades, to give grants in the amount of $500 each to each grade level as well as each Specials department and the Reading Specialist, to buy resource materials for the new STARR test, and to make a donation to Common Threads. The spring fundraiser committee is seeking donations for the auctions and raffles and several sponsorship opportunities still remain. FALL FUNDRAISER WAS A HUGE SUCCESS

Wow! What an awesome fall fundraiser. Thanks to the awesome participation by our students, parents and teachers Campbell Elementary sold over $47,000. The Campbell PTA appreciates everyone’s support as the profit from the catalog sale funds cougar folders, teacher start-up costs, field day, spring field trips and many other great activities. Parents will be notified when orders arrive.

Jennifer Santiago, our Room Parent Coordinator, will be meeting with the newly appointed room parents on Wednesday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the goals for this school year. Room parents are the liaisons between teachers and parents. They are responsible for communicating the needs of the teachers, coordinating classroom events/parties as well as keeping parents informed of all PTA related activities
